Egg and Mushroom bento

It's an EASTER egg and some KAWAII mushrooms! I bet you thought "egg and mushroom" as in "omelette"!
Well this has got to be the bento that has taken the longest - over 1 hour - and I haven't cleaned up the kitchen yet! I got so engrossed in what I was doing. I didn't have a clue what I was going to make but I had to go to the supermarket to get some bread and milk because the shops are all shut here on Sundays. And I really wanted to get some greenery. They didn't have any cucumbers or lettuce so I got spinach and grapes! o see how I made this, please visit my Wordpress Bento Box Blog

Simple rice balls

Just some simple mini rice balls as a snack, served on some potato salad. I just wanted to try out the little shape punches on my new Nori!

I now have Nori!

For the first time ever in my life I found and bought a pack of Nori, dry roasted seaweed! It is called "Seetang" in German. I went to a big supermarket in the town and was amazed to find it AND I got some wasabi peanuts and some Surimi processed fish -  "crabsticks" as we used to call them, back in the day when you could buy them "ready to eat" from Rotherham indoor market! I also managed to get some tinned vegetarian ravioli, some proper Heinz baked beans in tomato sauce and I got a "4 for 3" offer on some mini cute tins of sweetcorn. The oven is still not working, unless we run an extension from the bathroom so I'm glad I bought 3 tins of the ravioli! I also got some chocolate sauce that you drizzle onto ice-cream and then it goes hard and crispy and crackly. Just for a treat! The Nori was 3 euros for 25 sheets. I get 80 wet wipes for 1 euro. So I hope the seaweed tastes better!! Not tried it yet! It was too late when we got back to start messing about in the kitchen on top of feeding the kids and getting them bathed and into bed. I'm falling asleep now. I am looking forward to making my next bento, especially seeing as I will not have to demolish any more Aubergines, for their skin! :o)   The seaweed is a lot greener than I thought it would be. It always looks black in photos I have seen. Maybe it darkens when it gets damp from the rice. We'll have to see. The possibilities are endless now - I can have another go at sushi and I can try to do nicer faces on the charaben characters too.

Laundry survival

I haven't stuck to my laundry plan as well as I wanted this week. I seem to have lost a day this week, because I should have been on "Grey Load" and "Kitchen Towels" today but I'm on Thursday's "Dark Blue load" and "Bath towels". I might be able to catch up this weekend, if I do some clever re-jigging and could even cheat by putting "black load" and "grey load" together in a cunning "kill 2 birds with 1 stone" ploy. That would free me up to move Sunday's "Light blue load" forward, enabling me to get some extra loads done before Monday's "Bedding load" comes back round, keeping Tuesday's "Pink and red load" on track and paving the way for Wednesday's "Brown load" and "White Load".

I dreamed a dream in times gone by...
My laundry hamper would be empty....
Now I know it's just a lie...
In this house there's clothes a plenty...

I never dreamed my life would be...
Just days of endless washing.
I never dreamed that I would see...
2  racks full drying in my kitchen.

Now the truth has come to light....
And there's no hope in sight....
The faster that I go....
The bigger the mountain does grow!!!

I dreamed a dream in times gone by
That my boys would be forgiving!
That they'd use potty or a bib!
But I guess that's wishful thinking!

I never dreamed this life for me!
It's all so time consuming!
I've got better things to do...
Than standing doing the ironing!

Just the dessert today, no bento!

The bento went wrong - learn from my mistakes and don't try to build sculptures with cous-cous - it doesn't work! To see how I made this fruit cocktail, please visit Bento Box Blog
